[04] They're Not Just Words
They're Not Just Words is a social awareness campaign exploring how common derogatory language directed towards women has become normalised in everyday conversation.
Grounded in research into the origins of language, the campaign transforms familiar words into impactful visuals. Through a bold visual identity using print productions, photography, motion and digital design, this campaign encourages audiences to recognise the consequences of language that has become so socially accepted.

A bold visual identity was developed using expressive typography, impactful photography and a monochrome palette to place language at the centre of the campaign. Each touchpoint was designed to encourage recognition while keeping a consistent identity across print, motion graphics and digital platforms.
Alongside the visual campaign, an interactive website was designed to encourage women to anonymously share their own experiences with gendered language. These personal stories become part of the campaign itself, reinforcing the message that these words are never just words.

An accompanying website provides educational content alongside an interactive platform where users can contribute anonymous stories, creating a growing archive of real experiences that strengthens the campaign's message through collective voices.
